Teletherapy

Up Behavioral Health LLC is pleased to offer teletherapy services (also known as e-therapy, telepsychology, or online therapy) to support individuals and families throughout Maryland.

Can’t leave the house?

Don’t worry! We’re still here for you.

Teletherapy is a key component of “telehealth,” which encompasses a range of remote clinical services, including telemedicine and telepsychiatry. Teletherapy sessions closely mirror the structure and quality of in-person psychotherapy or counseling: they follow the same timeframe, address the same concerns, and provide the same opportunity for support, connection, and meaningful therapeutic progress. The only distinction is that, rather than meeting in an office, you meet with your therapist through secure online video conferencing.

Therapists can provide individual, couples, and even group therapy through online platforms, and research indicates that teletherapy is just as effective as in-person treatment (Varker et al., 2018; Wilson et al., 2017).

While teletherapy is strongly supported by evidence, certain critical concerns are not well suited for remote treatment and are best addressed through in-person care.
If you are experiencing an immediate crisis, such as suicidal or homicidal intent, significant self-harm, or severe symptoms related to eating disorders, please contact the crisis hotline by dialing 988 or go to the nearest emergency center for immediate assistance.

Clients’ Experiences

How Does Teletherapy Work?

Our secure, fully confidential, HIPAA-compliant video platform makes it easy to connect with your therapist while maintaining the highest standards of privacy and reliability.

To participate in a video chat session, you will need a reliable internet connection and a smartphone or computer equipped with a webcam. Using headphones is also recommended for added privacy and a better audio experience.

Telehealth appointments offer a safe and convenient way to receive care. Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive an email and text confirmation, along with a secure link to start your session. If you experience any difficulties connecting, please contact our office for assistance.

If you have trouble accessing your session or are unsure of the next steps, please contact us promptly at 443 695-9859. Our team is ready to help troubleshoot any issues and guide you through the process.

Most insurance plans now cover virtual sessions at the same rate as in-person visits. To confirm your coverage, email info@upbehavioralhealth.care
